Black Flag

This was a tailoring project, completed as part of my BA. I've always wanted to explore the pirate aesthetic and I felt this was the perfect opportunity. I did a lot of research into pirate culture including clothing, ships and flags. I knew I wanted to include embroidery on the coat, so I used the skull motif, an iconic symbol of piracy. The silhouette of the coat was inspired by extensive research into 16th and 17th century clothing.
